Rhondda Ladies Hockey Club are extremely proud of our under 11’s this season. They are the very first U11 team for Rhondda to reach the South Wales Cup Finals. They have played some fabulous hockey throughout this tournament, giving 100% total effort and commitment. After losing against Whitchurch and Penarth they drew against Gwent and came away placed 4th. Well done girls you are all absolutely amazing. The future is definitely bright for RLHC.
Another day of hockey, this time for the SWYHA U13’s Cup Qualifiers in Swansea.
Rhondda were in a pool with some tough teams, losing against Penarth (2-1) and Swansea (1-0). However they also got two wins against Cowbridge (2-0) and Abergavenny (2-0) gaining 6 points in total and coming third in their pool to reach the play offs against Brecon. This was a tense game and unfortunately we lost 1-0 in the last minutes of the game to a short corner strike.
Our goals today came from Martha, Catrin and Amy.
Thank you to Liz and to Kay for today, to all of our parents - we are nearly there, and a massive thank you to all the players, it’s been fantastic watching you get better and better this season. We hope to welcome you back to RLHC in 2019/2020.

As the Red Army continues to grow, making club history, Rhondda Ladies will not only enter one, but TWO indoor teams into the Summer Indoor League, where both teams will start their campaign tonight at USW Sport Park.
The journey began back in January 2016, where we entered our first indoor team into the South Wales Womens League, with the aim of having fun through extra hockey and social opportunities. Since then, the interest has continued to grow with other members seeing the positive impact indoor has on the outdoor game. With 24 members named between the two squads, everyone looks forward to the beginning of our next Indoor journey.
A special thanks to Kay Tyler who has been the driving force behind the coordinator of Indoor, and well supported by our members.
Last night, our Young Ambassadors Morgan, Kate and Lauren rose to the challenging of organising and coordinating a club Easter Disco for our Junior Members. From purchasing prizes for the night to planning the event plan for the evening, the girls done a fantastic job and altogether fund raised £180 for the club.
This might be the first, but definitely will not be the last even that the Young Ambassadors run, they will continue to support the coordination of club events and look to host seasonal junior discos.
A fantastic well done to Morgan, Kate and Lauren, a huge credit to the club.
Last night, we took to Pontypridd RFC to host our Annual Halloween Spooktacular Disco, where we invited club and non-club members to join in the family fun and support us in fundraising for the club. We saw over 20 children attend with their families and got involved with fun games including the mummy game, toss the coin and of course the penultimate Fancy Dress competition.
Thank you to all those that supported and contributed to the evening, we manage to raise a fantastic £150 that will now go back into the club to support the growth of the youth and senior section. A special thank you to Pontypridd RFC for hosting us, a great venue, lovely staff and definitely somewhere we will return to use in the future.
Keep your eyes peeled for what we have upcoming in the next few months!
Today, we took to our local superstore at Tesco Upperboat to fundraise through bag packing for new Junior Playing Kit. Both seniors and juniors took to the checkouts, supporting people of the public to pack their shopping bags and talked to them about our club, and the importance of what we were fundraising for.
As our junior section continues to grow, we want to ensure that the brand of the club is continuous throughout, and the juniors play in the same design kit as the seniors, demonstrating the 'One Club, One Red Army' philosophy.
With thanks to the local community, we raised a phenomenal £895.86, that has got the whole club amazed and grateful of how kind the people of the public have been. This total will make a huge difference to the Youth Section of our club and will continue to raise the visibility of our club and general hockey provision in the community of RCT.
A huge thank you goes to Tesco Extra, Upperboat for hosting us today, all the checkout staff that supported us were fantastic, and we are grateful for the store allowing us to carry out this fundraiser.
